Are there any specific software requirements I need?
Most PCs and laptop products will run Valuation Anywhere and Windows, which provide access to Black Book Live.
How do I use Black Book Live?
There are two video demonstrations in the 'Watch Black Book Live in Action' page of this site. One for Black Book Live using the 'Valuation Anywhere' service and one for Black Book Live using our 'CAP for Windows' service. Alternatively you can call one of the team on 0113 223 2111 and they will be happy to arrange a demonstration of this easy to use service.
Is it easy to find these updated, 'Live' valuations?
Yes. For both Valuation Anywhere and CAP for Windows, you can find the Live valuations towards the bottom of your screen. These are always on display. You will always see the most up-to-date value of the vehicle you are looking at, be it the CAP Clean, Average or Below Average value. Entering the mileage of the vehicle will automatically adjust the value.
How do I know the value is accurate?
CAP employs a dedicated team of Editors who constantly research values and trends in the market place. They have more than 150 years of dealership experience between them, something which is unique in the industry. The CAP editors have an enviable reputation within industry for their knowledge and as such CAP is regarded as the benchmark for accurate valuations.
Where do I find the comments you have made about why a value has changed?
Every valuation amendment is accompanied by a comment to help you understand why it has changed. CAP is the only company to offer this service. For Valuation Anywhere you will find a graph that charts the most recent value amendments that have been made for the vehicle you are viewing towards the bottom of your screen. Hovering over each amended value opens an on screen box detailing the commentary. For Windows, the commentary appears by double clicking on the actual car value you are looking at.
Can I use Black Book Live without taking your Valuation Anywhere or Windows products?
No, Black Book Live is a 'bolt on' service' to help your business stay up-to-date with ever-changing car values through either Valuation Anywhere or Windows. These are CAP's two electronic valuation products that enable the real-time updating of changing values. Black Book Live is also available as a raw data feed that integrates seamlessly into existing dealer systems and is available in either ASCII and SQL formats.
What is Valuation Anywhere?
Valuation Anywhere is our online valuation tool that provides used vehicle valuations in an instant. Available via text, email or your valuation account on your PC or smart phone. The Black Book Live bolt on ensures all valuations accurately reflect the true value of a used vehicle 365 days a year. Within your Valuation Anywhere service, Black Book Live values are shown with the original Retail, Clean, Average and Below Average valuations and can easily be adjusted to take into account vehicle damage and optional extras, providing full confidence in the true value of the vehicle. To make life easy and to ensure you don't accidentally choose the wrong derivative, Valuation Anywhere offers an accurate VRM look up as well as a manual look up facility.
What is CAP for Windows?
Incorporated into the used valuation section of the user-friendly Windows application, Black Book Live values are always shown as the default value on the screen for any vehicle. So you can rest assured that the first screen you see is always the most up-to-date. A time bar that is displayed on the bottom of the screen shows the dates when updates were made which when clicked show data for each date. Editorial commentary for every update and a timeline graph provide visual commentary of value movements are easily available. Windows allows you to manually search for a specific make, model and derivative and review historical data for each derivative. Unlike Valuation Anywhere, CAP for Windows does not have VRM look up.
